The Comptroller General (CG), Dr. Vincent Isegbe of the Nigeria Agricultural Quarantine Service earlier today attended the commissioning of over 9,000 agricultural mechanization equipment by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, held under the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope Agricultural Mechanization Programme. The initiative is a strategic move aimed at transforming Nigeria’s agricultural sector and ensuring national food security.
Speaking at the event, President Tinubu underscored the broader vision of his administration for the agricultural sector. “Our ambition extends beyond mere self-sufficiency. We envision Nigeria as a global agricultural powerhouse, supplying quality produce to international markets while ensuring every citizen has access to affordable nutrition,” he declared.
He lauded the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security for its proactive efforts in addressing the ongoing food crisis and stressed the need for transparency and accountability in the deployment and use of the mechanization equipment.
The CG, alongside Director of Plant Quarantine, Dr Ogunfunmilayo Oluwole, commended the initiative as a bold step toward sustainable agricultural development and reiterated the commitment of relevant agencies to support the program’s successful implementation nationwide.
