CG NAQS PAYS WORKING VISIT TO THE HONORABLE MINISTER OF INDUSTRY, TRADE AND INVESTMENT.

Earlier today, the Comptroller General of the Nigeria Agricultural Quarantine Service (NAQS), Dr. Vincent Isegbe, accompanied by top management staff, paid a courtesy visit to the Honorable Minister of Industry, Trade, and Investment, Dr. Jumoke Oduwole.

In his opening remarks, the CG congratulated the Honorable Minister on her recent appointment and praised her exemplary leadership during her tenure as the Senior Special Assistant to the President on the Presidential Enabling Business Environment Council (PEBEC).

Highlighting the purpose of the visit, the CG stressed the importance of fostering stronger collaboration with the Ministry to promote non-oil exports and bolster food security—objectives aligned with the renewed hope agenda of the current administration. He further advocated for a nationally unified standard for weights, measures, and grading of agricultural products for export. Dr. Isegbe underscored the need to strengthen the Federal Produce Inspection Department of the Ministry for enhanced service delivery in line with its mandate.

In her response, the Honorable Minister expressed gratitude for the visit and commended the CG for his visionary leadership. She proposed the establishment of a technical working group comprising NAQS and other relevant agencies within the Ministry to identify areas of synergy and collaboration.

The visit marked a significant step toward ensuring seamless coordination between NAQS and the FMITI in driving agricultural trade facilitation and achieving national economic goals.
