The Comptroller General of the Nigeria Agricultural Quarantine Service (NAQS), Dr. Vincent Isegbe, has expressed the Service’s readiness to partner with innovative agricultural technology providers following a meeting with representatives of Sentinel X Farmer Guide in partnership with Prexea Technology Limited and The Optimum Consult Nigeria Limited at the NAQS Headquarters.
During the engagement, the team presented the Sentinel X Farmer Guide, a farming support technology designed to detect crop stress and pest infestations at an early stage, enabling timely intervention before significant damage occurs. Particular emphasis was placed on its potential application in the detection and management of Fall Armyworm and other economically important crop pests.
Welcoming the delegation, Dr. Isegbe commended the innovative approach and noted that the technology aligns with NAQS’ mandate of preventing the introduction, establishment, and spread of pests and diseases that threaten Nigeria’s agricultural sector. He described the initiative as a practical research-driven solution with the potential to significantly improve crop yields and strengthen food security.
The Comptroller General further stated that the Service remains open to strategic partnerships that provide direct benefits to farmers, who are the primary beneficiaries of such innovations. He emphasized the importance of leveraging technology, research, and collaboration to address emerging agricultural challenges and promote sustainable agricultural development in Nigeria.
