The Nigeria Agricultural Quarantine Service (NAQS) recently hosted a Passing Out Parade and Closing Ceremony at the Digital Bridge Institute (DBI), Ikeja, Lagos. This event celebrated the successful completion of a rigorous paramilitary and Sanitary and Phytosanitary (SPS) training program aimed at equipping its newly trained officers for service in ensuring the prevention of the entry, establishment and spread of exotic pest and diseases and to promote sanitary and phytosanitary measures as it relates to the import and export of agricultural commodities.
The Comptroller General of NAQS, serving as the Special Guest of Honor, delivered an inspiring address to the graduating officers. He underscored the critical importance of applying the knowledge, discipline, and values acquired during the training in their respective stations and zonal commands.
He encouraged the officers to carry out the agency’s mandate with distinction, integrity, and professionalism, reminding them of their role as NAQS ambassadors. He emphasized the collective vision of establishing NAQS as the foremost regulatory agency in Nigeria, urging the officers to uphold the Service’s integrity in all their assignments.
The ceremony marked a significant milestone, symbolizing the officers’ readiness to take on their duties and contribute to protecting the agricultural economy of Nigeria.
