NAQS Hosts Annual Stakeholders Meeting on Sanitary and Phytosanitary Measures for Exporters

The Nigerian Agricultural Quarantine Service (NAQS) hosted its Annual Stakeholders Meeting on Sanitary and Phytosanitary (SPS) measures for exporters in Ikeja, Lagos, bringing together exporters, farmers, and key agricultural players. NAQS Comptroller General, Dr. Vincent Isegbe, emphasized the importance of SPS compliance in building trust with international buyers and promoting the quality of Nigerian produce.

Key highlights included:
• Pesticide Use: Ahmed Reda of Jubaili Bros discussed sustainable pesticide management for crop quality.
• Fall Armyworm Control: Dr. Ogunfunmilayo A.O revealed the identification of Telenomus remus, a natural predator of the Fall Armyworm.
• Collaboration for SPS Compliance: Dr. Ichue Ivbade Joy, South-West Zonal Commander, stressed the need for coordinated efforts between stakeholders.
• Export Certification: Dr. Stella Oraka detailed the Export Certification Value Chain, emphasizing transparency and efficiency.

The meeting concluded with a call for innovation and strengthened partnerships to boost Nigeria’s agricultural exports. NAQS reaffirmed its commitment to supporting stakeholders in meeting global standards.
