The Comptroller General of the Nigeria Agricultural Quarantine Service (NAQS), Dr. Vincent Isegbe, today received Dr. Lava Kumar, Head of the Germplasm Health Unit and the Virology & Molecular Diagnostics Unit at the International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA), on a courtesy and strategic engagement visit at the Agency’s Headquarters.
The visit focused on preparations for an upcoming strategic interaction with the CGIAR Chief Scientist, aimed at sharing experiences from existing partnerships and exploring new opportunities for collaboration. Discussions also centered on strengthening institutional cooperation in the areas of plant health, molecular diagnostics, germplasm protection, agricultural biosecurity, and capacity development.
The engagement reaffirmed the strong working relationship between NAQS and IITA and highlighted the importance of sustained collaboration in advancing agricultural innovation, safeguarding plant resources, and enhancing Nigeria’s agricultural productivity and trade competitiveness.
