The Comptroller General of the Nigeria Agricultural Quarantine Service (NAQS), Dr. Vincent Isegbe, has held a productive meeting with the fresh vegetable exporters in Nigeria at the South West Zonal Command, Ikeja, Lagos, aimed at strengthening regulatory compliance and improving export standards.
The meeting, jointly chaired by the Comptroller General and the South West Zonal Commander, Dr. Joy Ivbade Ichue, reviewed compliance issues arising from the 20-point communique issued at the first edition of the stakeholders’ meeting. New operational guidelines were also introduced in preparation for the 2026 export year.
Speaking at the meeting, Dr. Joy Ichue emphasized that the establishment of standard packhouses, in line with approved packaging requirements for fresh vegetables, is mandatory for all exporters.
The Comptroller General reiterated NAQS’s commitment to facilitating trade while safeguarding Nigeria’s agricultural integrity, noting that the Service remains focused on positioning Nigerian vegetables as a preferred choice in international markets.
Stakeholders commended NAQS for its proactive engagement, expressing confidence that the resolutions reached would reduce export rejections, enhance profitability, and support the Federal Government’s agricultural export diversification agenda.
