As part of its ongoing commitment to enhancing Nigeria’s agricultural export competitiveness, the Nigeria Agricultural Quarantine Service (NAQS), under the leadership of the Comptroller General Dr. Vincent Isegbe, convened a strategic engagement with Fresh Vegetable Exporters at the South West Zonal Command in Ikeja, Lagos.
The meeting, chaired by Dr. Isegbe alongside South West Zonal Commander Dr. Joy Ivbade Ichue, tackled key challenges in the export value chain, particularly compliance with international phytosanitary standards and logistics optimization. A comprehensive 20-point communiqué, endorsed by both NAQS and stakeholders, has established a new framework to improve the export of Nigerian vegetables to the global market.
This dialogue reflects NAQS’s mandate to facilitate trade while safeguarding Nigeria’s agricultural integrity, reinforcing its commitment to making Nigerian vegetables the preferred choice for international consumers.
Exporters welcomed NAQS’s proactive approach, emphasizing that the resolutions will significantly reduce export rejections and enhance profitability. This collaboration represents a major milestone in advancing the Federal Government’s agricultural export diversification agenda.
