This service department coordinates the activities of all NAQS laboratories located at the post-entry station and pre-entry stations of the plant, veterinary and fisheries quarantine units. It arranges for the procurement and supply of laboratory equipment, reagents and upgrading of existing facilities.

The major NAQS diagnostic laboratories and SPS facilities are located at Ibadan (Moor Plantation), Lagos (Ikeja, Ibafo and Victoria Island), Kano (Airport Road, Ungogo), Port-Harcourt (Rumu – Dumanya, Federal Secretariat) and Maiduguri (Ngomari).

Laboratory Management Unit participated in the Training workshop organized by UNIDO on basic ISO/ IEC 17025 FOR TESTING AND CALIBRATION LABORATORIES which held from October, 2015 to January, 2016 in Abuja, Lagos, Ilorin, Kaduna and PH at different times (sample Picture for Abuja training center held from 5th – 9th October, 2015 attached).

Laboratory Management Unitis currently participating in the advanced training organized by UNIDO on ISO/IEC 17025 FOR TESTING AND CALIBRATION LABORATORIES scheduled to hold from February to April, 2016 in Abuja, Lagos, Ilorin, Kaduna and Port-Harcourt at different times (sample Picture for Abuja training held from 7th -11th March, 2016 attached).

NAQS ensures that our agricultural exports meet with international standards in line with International Plant Protection Convention (IPPC) Office International des Epizootics (OIE) representing the World Organization for Animal Health, WTO/Sanitary and International Trade of Endangered Species (CITES) and SPS conditions of the importing countries. Its operations are guided by the enabling legislation enacted by the National Assembly and SPS regulations and schedules.

Currently carrying out Proficiency Testing (PT) on Maize under the FAO-Texas A&M Aflatoxin Proficiency Testing and Control Programme (started in March, 2016)

Currently carrying out a Survey analysis and sampling of Primary Agricultural Commodities in Nigeria (started November, 2015)
